Traumatic Brain Injury

A Traumatic Brain Injury is an acquired injury to the brain caused by an external force, resulting in total or partial functioning disability or psychosocail impariment, or both, that adversely affects a stundent's educational performance.

The term applies to open or closed head injuries resulting in impairments in on or more of the following:

1. Congnition

2. Language

3. Memory

4. Attention

5. Abstract Thinking

6. Reasoning

7. Judgment

8. Problem - Solving

9. Sensory

10. Perceptual and motor abilities

11. Psychoscail Behaviors

12. Physical Functioning

13. Information Processing

14. Speech

The term does not apply to brain injuries that are congenital or degenerative, or brain injuries by birth trauma.
